Apple HomeView explained: price, release date, what the new Siri AI can do and where it is sold. See how it compares with Alexa+ and Gemini for Home.

Apple HomeView is Apple's biggest smart-home push in years and, above all, a showcase for its new AI-powered Siri. Announced on 13 October 2026, it is a 7-inch display built for the kitchen or living room that plays music, makes FaceTime calls, controls lights, locks and cameras, and recognises each member of the household by their face. Here is what Apple HomeView is, what it can do, its price and release date, where it will be sold, and how it stacks up against Amazon Alexa+ and Gemini for Google Home.

What is Apple HomeView?

According to Apple's official announcement, HomeView is a shared device for entertainment, communication and running the home. It comes in two models with the same 7-inch Liquid Retina display and feature set:

  • Tabletop: the display sits on a stainless steel hinge above a domed speaker base with a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators. Colours: silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray.
  • Wall-mounted: sits flush on the wall using Schneider Electric mounts, with two drivers tuned for on-wall placement. Colours: space gray and silver.

Inside is the A18 chip with Secure Exclaves, an isolated area that processes camera and microphone data separately from the rest of the system. Apple says neither apps, users nor Apple itself can access that data. Brightness ranges from 500 down to 0.3 nits, and the interface simplifies when you look at it from across the room.

What HomeView can do with the new Siri AI

The product is built around Siri AI, the new Siri that Apple says has broader world knowledge, more natural conversation and onscreen awareness. Key features:

  • Face-based profiles: recognises up to six people and gives each a personal Home Screen. Messages, Calendar, Reminders and Find My content only appear for the recognised person; Messages and Calendar also require that person's paired iPhone or iPad to be nearby and recently unlocked.
  • Personal context: with an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad, Siri can draw on your Calendar and Messages. Without one you still get conversation, world knowledge and music discovery.
  • Continuity: a conversation started on HomeView can continue in the Siri app on your iPhone or iPad via iCloud.
  • Smart home: touch or voice control of cameras, thermostats, lights, locks and blinds that work with Apple Home or Matter, plus a camera face that streams up to nine feeds.
  • Everyday help: step-by-step recipes, hands-free timers, reading and replying to messages, and FaceTime with Center Stage.
  • Safety: listens for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and alerts your other devices.

One caveat matters: Apple's footnotes say Siri AI is in beta in HomeView software 27.2. Requests run on the device or on Private Cloud Compute, which Apple says does not store data. For background on assistants that take actions rather than just answer, see how AI agents work in 2026.

US pre-orders opened on 13 October. HomeView launches on 13 November in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India and Singapore, and in South Africa through authorised resellers. Apple also announced the Apple Home Collection, a range of cameras, thermostats and a lock designed with LG and Schneider Electric, arriving in December with some accessories following in early 2027.

Is HomeView coming to Europe, Spain or Latin America?

Not for now. Apple says HomeView will not be sold in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU, and that it is working with the EU on a path forward. That rules out Spain and the rest of the bloc.

No Latin American country is on the launch list, and Apple has not announced euro or Latin American pricing. Language is another limit: at launch Siri AI on HomeView only speaks English, with Canadian French promised in a free software update. There is no date for Spanish.

Apple HomeView vs Alexa+ vs Gemini for Google Home

As Fortune notes, the home devices are "a new distribution channel" for Siri as Apple plays catch-up in AI. Fortune also reports that the new Siri relies on Google's Gemini technology, and that it arrives in beta on the new Apple TV 4K too, while the new HomePod mini gets it in a later software update. Amazon and Google, meanwhile, have already rebuilt their home assistants around generative models.

In Spain, Xataka reports that Alexa+ launched on 24 April 2026 and is included with Prime, costing 22.99 euros a month for non-Prime users once early access ends. Apple's advantage is the ecosystem: if you already live on iPhone, Apple Watch and HomeKit, HomeView slots in with little friction and a stricter privacy model. Its weakness for European and Spanish-speaking buyers is obvious: it is not sold there and does not speak their language. Is Apple HomeView worth it?

For a US or UK household deeply invested in Apple, HomeView fills a gap the company left open for years: a home display with Siri. At $299 it costs more than most Echo Show models, but it includes a proper speaker and needs no subscription for the assistant.

The reservations are fair: Siri AI ships as a beta, the best features depend on owning a recent iPhone, and international availability is narrow. Buyers elsewhere should wait for Apple to confirm languages and countries. Either way, HomeView shows where everyday AI is heading: assistants that know who in the house is talking to them.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Apple HomeView cost?

Both the tabletop and wall-mounted models cost $299 in the US. Wall mounts are sold separately, starting at $59.95.

When is the Apple HomeView release date?

Pre-orders opened on 13 October 2026 and the device goes on sale on 13 November 2026 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore and South Africa.

No. Apple says it will not be sold in the EU because Siri AI is not currently available in iOS there.
